OBJECTIVES
The learner will:
- Understand the definition of what a leader is and what areas leadership can apply to
- Discover and discuss some recognised leaders from the past
- Learn the skills and qualities required for effective leadership
- Learn the 4 ‘key’ styles of leadership along with their advantages and disadvantages
- Discover the main roles and responsibilities of a leader
- Learn how a leader becomes a leader
ABOUT THE COURSE
Highlighting recognised leaders from the past and present we will clearly define themeaning of leadership. We will also re-iterate this with examples from learners' own
lives. We will then guide the learners to discover what makes a great leader, the
qualities a leader must possess and the styles of leadership they can utilise. In
addition we will ask them to elect a group leader and present the process they used
to achieve this.

The learners will learn to recognise where specific styles of leadership are appropriateand how to apply them to individuals and teams.
Recognising the qualities that are required for effective leadership, and how and
